Devastating Update

04:45 PM, August 31, 2004

The Threshold Network's Mortal Kombat site has finally updated again, and is now devided in two sections: Film and Games.

The games section only shows a Mortal Kombat: Deception teaser image, but the film section is a lot more interesting for it shows a subsection for the third Mortal Kombat film, labeled Mortal Kombat: Devastation. Apart from the exciting new title, there's not much to see yet—the section itself currently only contains the following words:

Are there enemies still burning with hatred, possessing an unquenchable thirst for revenge? For now our planet remains a precious gateway between realms, inhabited not by gods or sorcerers, but only by humans. Will Earth Realm be challenged again?

Official Mortal Kombat: Deception Site Update

04:08 AM, August 27, 2004

The official Mortal Kombat: Deception site has been updated. It has a list of 14 Konfirmed Kombatants—11 returning, and introducing 3 new:

Returning:
  • Raiden
  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero (the dash is back?)
  • Mileena
  • Baraka
  • Nightwolf
  • Sindel
  • Ermac
  • Li Mei
  • Kenshi
  • Bo' Rai Cho
Introducing:
  • Shujinko
  • Ashrah
  • Hotaru

No real big news there—in fact, we've already seen many more in action: Liu Kang, Kabal, Havik, Onaga, Noob, Smoke… but, there is more! From two of these Konfirmed Kombatants there is a (high resolution) render for download: one of Scorpion, and one of Shujinko. Also, there are renders of three new arenas: Beetle Lair, Hell's Foundry, and Slaughterhouse.

Last, but not least, there is mention of more news coming in September.

Mortal Kombat: Deception Intro

03:02 AM, August 27, 2004

Gamedaily released the into sequence of Mortal Kombat: Deception. The file has been taken down at request of Midway, who said this might not be the full intro. We won't put the movie online untill Midway approves, but you can find some screen captures of it at the MK Warehouse.

New MK:D media on GameSpot PS2

03:33 AM, August 25, 2004

GameSpot PS2 released five new movies with game footage, and six new screenshots of Mortal Kombat: Deception (Sony PlayStation 2 version).

One of the movies is particularly interesting because it shows the all new character Kobra brutally finishing off the returning classic Kabal (from MK3) via one of the awesome new stage fatalities.

IGN Releases 2 New MKD Bio Videos

04:51 AM, August 20, 2004

Two new Bio Videos are available for download on the Mortal Kombat: Deception videos section of IGN PS2. Windows Media Player (low-res) version can be downloaded freely, but QuickTime (high-res) version are reserved for IGN Insiders.

The labels of the movies say they're the official bios for Shujinko and Hotaru, but there seems to have been a little mix-up there: the Shujinko is actually about Hotaru, and the Hotaru one is actually about Baraka.

The videos reveal quite some interesting stuff—especially the Hotaru one (labeled Shujinko): it shows actual game footage of Hotaru (obviously), Kira, Havik, Dragon King, and … Liu Kang!!

Thanks to DArqueBishop for the heads up.

IN MEMORIAM: Potent_Seed

05:27 PM, June 4, 2004

Some of you might remember him from the Mortal Kombat Online Discussion Forums; some might remember him from #mortalkombat IRC chat; some might remember him from his work on Mortal Kombat Warehouse. Some might remember him as Elliot Wright; but most of you will know him as Potent_Seed.

On May 24th, he decided he could not and would not longer handle the struggles he was dealing with (something that will sound familiar, particularly to those that know him from chat), and took his own life.

Elliot Wright

Memorial services for Elliot Wendell Wright, 20, East Shore Estates, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at East Shore Estates Pavilion in Smith County.

Mr. Wright died May 24.

He was born Dec. 29, 1983, in Marshall and lived at East Shore Estates most of his life. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jeff and Alana Wright, East Shore Estates; sister, Lindsay Wright, New Hampshire; and brother, Peyton Jones, New Hampshire; mother and stepfather, Wendy and Buddy Jones, New Hampshire; grandparents, Linda and Ross Donahue, New Hampshire, Arlene and Donnie Davis, New London; great-grandfather, Wendy Klennert, Marshall.

The Tyler Paper

My thoughts are with all those he left behind with this tragic loss—in particular those mentioned in the obituary above, but also his buddies from the online Mortal Kombat kommunity—something that meant a great deal to him.
